Вправи з відповідями
Спочатку зробіть подумки або на папері, потім відкривайте відповідь. Пояснення є до кожного пункту. Вправа C — найважливіша: у ній немає «правильного» варіанта, є два різні сенси — і саме вміння їх розрізняти означає, що модальні ваші.
Вправа A — виберіть модальне
Читайте вголос повне речення з відповіддю: модальні ставляться на слух швидше, ніж за правилами.

Вправа B — знайдіть і виправте помилку
У кожному реченні рівно одна помилка з модальним — так, як їх насправді роблять у листах і чатах.

5.Sorry, I willn’t be able to come tomorrow.

Вправа C — поясніть різницю
Обидва речення в кожній парі граматично правильні. Ваше завдання — сказати, коли яке доречне. Це і є справжнє володіння модальними.
1.You must call him. / You should call him.
2.You mustn’t reply. / You don’t have to reply.
3.He can’t be at work. / He might not be at work.
4.Can I use your laptop? / May I use your laptop?
5.He won’t help. / He can’t help.
6.We could have won. / We should have won.
7.The car won’t start. / The car doesn’t start.
8.You must be joking. / You are joking.
